Equipo manufactures a complete line of performance catalytic converters called Performance-Max®, utilizing Opti-Flow® technology. We recently introduced the first and only high performance aftermarket metallic under-floor converter. This same technology is used in high performance European vehicles and in professional racing circuits where emissions are regulated.

Traditional high performance converters on the market today utilize a ceramic base catalyst core inside the converter. To allow their units to handle the higher exhaust flow and decreased backpressure demanded by performance engines, most manufacturers simply make their catalytic converters bigger. The enlarged size is necessary due to the thick (6.5 mil) cell walls in the ceramic core.

Equipo's Performance-Max® utilizes Opti-Flow® technology which combines a metallic substrate with thinner (5.0 mil) cell walls. The thinner walls provide an increase in frontal area and greater flow across their face throughout the catalytic converter. This, in turn, means increased horsepower.

The exhaust stream from an engine travels through the exhaust pipe and tends to enter the catalytic converter in a "centering" flow. Standard converters divert the flow, increasing backpressure and stealing performance potential from the engine. Equipo solves this problem by combining Opti-Flow® technology with a metallic substrate to increase flow through the converter, lowering backpressure and restoring lost engine performance.
